Accept the world as it is, UNLESS YOU CAN CHANGE IT !

What will come to our mind when we hear the word loose-character or character-less. Only one thing… i.e. extra marital sexual relation. Nothing else we will think about for the person marked with these two words.

What a strange society we are living in. Character is limited just to the loyalty to the spouse only. All other evils have nothing to do with our character. Even if I am a black-marketer, a thief, a corrupt government-servant, not paying my tax-dues, cheating friends and colleagues, blending inedible things in foods… list anything, but if I am loyal to my spouse, then my character is OK.

In fact character represents overall personality of a person. But, unfortunately we have reduced it only to sex. However honest, decent, polite and good social person you are, but if you have sexual relations with anyone other than your spouse, even if it is with the consent of your spouse, you character is loose. Despite the fact that dishonest person is causing damage to the society like anything whereas a person having extra-marital sexual relations may not harm anyone a little bit, the character is linked only to extra marital sexual relation.

And shrewd persons, especially politicians, know this mentality of our society very well. Therefore, they are performing all the mal-practices cleverly without any fear of people may know about. However, they take utmost care that their extra marital sexual relation should not be disclosed. And we are accepting this happily.

Persons involved in scams, held guilty for not paying taxes, proved black-marketers, dishonest business-men, involved in penal-crimes and like are freely presenting themselves in the public without any fear of rejection. Even they get elected in assemblies/parliament. But any person otherwise honest and ordinary but just having little doubt about his/her extra marital sexual relation, will be rejected by the mass, in most cases.

This shows how much immature, socially, we are. We do not think beyond a level. Bill Clinton was re-elected despite Monika-affairs, by American public. Because he was judged by the public not by his personal life but by the qualifications he had for the job/work he was applying for. And we are electing…. forget it!

Don’t you think we need to grow-up and change our social thinking?

Since many hundreds of years new inventions/discoveries have been made by the human kind for betterment of the human life. Electricity, conveyance, houses, roads and so on. Everything is at finger tip.

The moot question is still remain... are we happy now?

To answer this question, we need to understand 'what is happiness?'. When we really feel ourselves happy?. Very simple. When we do something what we want to do. Like ... reading some book, watching favorite TV program, go for a walk, talking to some one with whom we want to talk or just sitting without doing anything or ... yes... sleepping.

Now the real question. How many hours or say minutes we are actually doing daily, what we LIKE to do. Think twice before answering, honestly.

The daily chore we are doing, starting from the early morning to late night are mostly not our favorite or we want to do AT THAT TIME. Waking up at a specific time irrespective the seasonal requirement of our body, is the first thing we do not want to do. Our body and mind do not want to leave the bed at the given time, but we have no choice. And this is the starting of doing things we do not want to do at the given time. During the entire day we mostly doing things that given a choice we hardly do. Most of us doing business/job we don't like. But we have no choice.

Starting from an age as early as 2 to 2.5 years we are forced to do what we do not like. No child want to go school or at least get the formal education. But they have to, otherwise they will remain UNDER OR UNDEVELOPED. After spending first 25-30 years in getting education/degrees we spend remaining life mostly for acquiring thing for living a better life. We just do not have time to LIVE the life because we are too busy in MAKING the LIFE.

Agree, we are spending some time in doing activities which we LIKE. Say reading a book or watching TV program we want to watch or have a trip to some place of our liking. Bur if we put a percent of such activities to total time of our life, it is very very less.

The better life style and medical facility has definitely increased our life-expectancy from 30-40 years before 5000 years to say 70-80 years now. But again how much percentage of this many years are we doing activities of our CHOICE?

Before say 50000 years the human race was totally undeveloped. We were living in jungle with other wild animals. Our life span was not more than 30 years. But during those 20-30 years we were free to live our life of our choice. There was no clocks to remind us early in the morning to get up. We were getting up when our body and mind permitting us, i.e. when we have sufficient sleep. After getting-up, the time was not pushing us to do the things, as being done now. We were doing what ever we wanted to do. Say just sitting idle, swimming in revers, just running around with other kids, climbing on the trees and eating the natural fruits or vegetables when we feel like eating and so on. There was no need to do any unwanted business / job. No boss, no customers, no budgets, no silly graphs of achievements, no cut-throat competition and so on. Yes there were no SO CALLED articles of comfort/entertainment like cosy furniture, TV, mobiles, cars, amusement parks etc. But are we actually need all these items for happiness or other way round are we happy with all these things.

Were not our ancestor, though living less years than us, more happy than us? Were they not more... quite more independent in living their life at their own way?

Think about it !

Can we get the lost time back? Certainly not. Surprisingly, many of us frequently trying to get back the time already passed. Not believing?

What we are doing when we are feeling guilty for what we have done or not-done in past? We are trying to get back to the moments, the time, we have already lived.

Surely no one can change one’s past, however capable/powerful one may be. Then what we are getting by just wasting our present in feeling guilty for our past. Yes, we can definitely learn from our mistakes and DO something now to minimize the loss. But just feeling guilty does not pay any dividend. On the contrary it paralyzes our present.

So, my friends, just forget what has happened in past and make your present more fruitful.
Can anyone has even slightest idea what will happened to Mahatma Gandhi or Mrs. Indira Gandhi, just before few minutes of their assassination. These are just examples. You can recall so many happenings, good or bad, in your life which you or no one had ever expected. What can happen very next moment in any one’s life is not certain.

Again, surprisingly, we are spending our precious present in worrying about what will happen if…..

This IF is very dangerous and useless. Life if full of surprises. In fact, these element of life makes the life more livable.

The fact is we are equally helpless for our future as we are for our past.

I am definitely not meaning that we should stop thinking about our future. We must, and also put all efforts in present to make our future better. But at the same time, just worrying about what will happen if “A” is happen or “A” is not happen does not helping in building concrete base for a sound future. Put all your efforts now, without bothering about what will happen tomorrow.

I remember a sweet short story here …

Once there was a king. He had everything then what he has wanted. A large kingdom, wealth, health, loyal ministers. He was very happy.
He once heard about saint who was said to be very knowledgeable with high spiritual power. So the king went to the saint to pay honor. King requested the saint to give him advice for ruling his kingdom more effectively. The saint said that since the king is already doing well and has everything what a king should have, there is no need any advice. However, the saint wrote something on a piece of paper and gave to the king and said him to use the message when he was in dire need of some assistance. King put the paper in pendent he usually wearing.
Time passed, and as witnessed in the history, some of the near and dears of the king rebelled. The king lost all his powers and wealth. However, somehow he managed to escape with some of his family members. They continued to hide themselves in a forest to save their life. One by one, by one or other, the king lost his family members. A time came, when he was alone in the deep forest. He has no one with him. A wealthy, happy, mighty king just before a few days was not striving for like. Since there was no hope or reason for life is remained, he decided to commit suicide. He decided to hang himself on a tree. Just at the time of fixing the knot of the rope on his neck, his hand touched the pendent. He remembered the words of the saint and opened the pendent and unfolded the paper.
Only one sentence was written there.
“This Time Will Also Pass”.
The king shocked. The saint has written this sentence when the king was a mighty, powerful king of a large wealthy kingdom. If that time did not lasted, why this one will last forever?
The king decided not to surrender to the circumstances which were always changing. And thereafter the story is as usual. He met some of his loyal supporters, gathered weapons somehow… and of course regains the power.
Moral of the story is that The Time Always Keep Changing. Let the preset moment, if not desirable, be passed.

So my friends, just not feel guilty for what has happened in the past or worry about what will happen tomorrow, and just use present moments as you want to use. Passing exam or getting excellent grade is just one of the activities of life. Failing in any exam is not failing in life. There is always other chance.

Just put all your efforts to achieve the target. Whatever result may come, life is still yours.

All the best….
